Ancestral Home & Design

Welcome to Ancestral Home & Design! I’m Jacob Leon Watson—a holistic home professional working at the intersection of real estate, construction, and human well-being. I was introduced to building at a young age through my father’s contracting business, where I gained a firsthand understanding of how homes come together—from structure and materials to craftsmanship and care. Those early experiences shaped a lasting appreciation for how thoughtfully built spaces influence the way we live, feel, and function.

As my experience grew, so did my vision. I took my passion for homebuilding into real estate, with a focus on health and sustainability. I believe that health is the foundation of everything we build—whether it’s our bodies or our homes. Thoughtful design, quality materials, and eco-forward practices aren’t just features—they’re essential to creating spaces that support well-being today and for generations to come.

What Clients Says

Trevor Regensburg

I’ve worked with Jacob on multiple properties, and he is hands down the best contractor I’ve ever worked with.

He was originally referred to me by my parents after completing work on their home – no small endorsement, as my mother has incredibly high standards and never recommends anyone. From the first project, it was clear Jacob was exceptional.

Jacob has handled everything from full gut renovations to lighter renovations across several properties for me, and every single project was completed on time and on budget, which is usually extremely rare. He actually worked until 9-10pm multiple nights and finished a couple projects early for me. The quality of his work is outstanding across the board: painting, carpentry, wallpapering, flooring (including refinishing), full kitchen and bathroom renovations, fixtures and hardware, lighting (interior and exterior), exterior work – and he’s not just “able to do everything,” he’s actually EXCELLENT at everything.

After my first project, I hired him for two additional renovations in Massachusetts. Then when I moved to Florida, he was so good that I paid to fly him down to renovate my new house here. No matter where I live, I would fly Jacob out – he’s faster, more cost-effective, and has an incredible eye for design. On my most recent project, which was my personal home, I trusted him completely, even letting him select paint colors, fixtures, and hardware. Normally I’d never do this.

Jacob is also really knowledgeable about environmentally friendly and wellness-oriented materials, which was important to my wife, who is very into wellness and very particular about what materials she did and didn’t want to use. He immediately understood exactly what she was looking for and had the experience to execute it flawlessly. We may be adding a wellness center with a spa and sauna in the future, and we will definitely have Jacob handle this.
I recommend Jacob without hesitation. If you want someone you can truly trust to deliver exceptional work, on time and on budget, he’s the real deal.

Jacob Watson is an exceptional general contractor. I worked with him on a very large redevelopment project in Manchester, NH from 2022–2023. The project involved converting a mixed-use building that was mostly offices into 10 high-end apartments, primarily one- and two-bedroom units. It required demoing almost the entire interior and rebuilding everything from scratch, including installing brand-new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems, while working closely with the building department to ensure everything was up to code.

It was an extremely involved project with countless details, moving pieces, and major challenges due to both the scope of the work and the quirks of a 100-year-old building. I worked with Jacob every step of the way, and he managed a wide range of subcontractor personalities with great tact and skill. Communication was always clear and direct, and I never felt in the dark about what was happening on the project.

One thing I really appreciate about Jacob is that he truly has the investor’s interests at heart. From the beginning, my goal was to create luxury-feeling apartments while still being economical. He struck that golden balance of being cost-efficient while making high-impact choices on finishes. He also has a great eye for design, gleaned from many years working closely with award-winning designers in Boston. This was a huge asset, and I am incredibly happy with how the apartments turned out. I consistently receive very positive feedback from tenants, prospective tenants, and Airbnb guests.

I’ve also continued working closely with Jacob as my go-to maintenance contact, and he has always come through when I’ve needed him. I’m continually impressed by the breadth of his knowledge — he seems to have an answer for just about every maintenance quandary that comes up.

In an era where finding a reliable and honest contractor feels like finding a needle in a haystack, Jacob is a true gem in his field. I’m grateful for the steady support he’s given me over the years, and grateful to call him a friend.
